Friday Favorite 12/8: The Grammar Girl Podcast

Welcome to this week’s Friday Favorite, a series where I share my favorite books, authors, and writing-related tools and resources. This week, I’m sharing another podcast that never fails to spark my curiosity and make me smarter: Grammar Girl!

Between her highly successful books, website, and award-winning podcast, it’s pretty safe to say that the Grammar Girl, aka Mignon Fogarty, has become a household name for English lovers across the country. But just in case you haven’t tried her podcast yet, let me tell you about it!

I first started listening to Grammar Girl about three years ago, and I turn it on whenever I feel the need for a bit of food for thought or a dose of English-related humor. Fogarty consistently delivers both in spades, from her lighthearted discussions of misused words like “irregardless” and her deep dives into the histories of everyday idioms to her breakdowns of new words showing up online. Each podcast makes me appreciate the rich histories and complexities behind the English language a little more.

Grammar Girl is available on all mainstream streaming platforms (and a good number of smaller ones as well). You can also find transcripts of her podcast on her website.

Do you listen to the Grammar Girl podcast? What other language-related podcasts do you love?
